Hello Chris,

>when recovery start we become the following error (-24977 unknown command
>"db-activate" [db_activate RECOVER "Filename" DATA])

This is a bug in DBMGUI Second Edition. Until a patch is available, you could try
using DDBMGUI (first edition).

Subject: migration from 7.3.0.24 to 7.4.3.31

Hi,

we want to migrate our production DB (7.3.0.24 / gui first edition) to
another W2K-Server running sapdb 7.4.3.31 & sapdb gui second edition.

Before this step we tried to test the migration procedure but without any
luck.

Following steps were be done:
-installation of sapdb 7.4.3.31 on a WinXP-PC & Sapdb Gui (second edition)
-backup (recovery mode) from the running production DB
-adding a medium with the same name one the new sapdb
-starting installation wizard and adding a new instance with the same
parameters as the "old one"
-at the end of the instance installation we use the recovery mode
-when recovery start we become the following error (-24977 unknown command
"db-activate" [db_activate RECOVER "Filename" DATA])

-if we choose at the end of the instance installation "start up instance"
and perform the recovery later, we get another error (-111 Incompatible
incremental backup)

We used the same procedure several times before with the Version 7.3.xx.

Were is our fault? :-)

Thanks for help and advices.

Regards,
Chris
