Hi,
Elke please note that the machine does not restart no other
programs seem to be effected. Only the sapdb database service on win2k
seems to unexpectedly stop. I guess given the info in your last mail I
can't call it a crash anymore. ;-) .It was earlier getting auto
restarted by windows. But I disabled auto restart to track down the
problem.

Disabling the AntiVirus (Trend Micro) seems to have worked.
(Will wait a few more days before being convinced that this is the
problem). However I did find a post reporting problems with sapdb 7.4 and
trend micro at:
http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/mysql/2004-q1/2086.html

Has anyone on the list encountered this before?

Regards,
Ajit

1. it means that the database-kernel does NOT crash
2. it means that for some reason the database kernel is restarted during
the night.
As I assume that nobody works at that time, we have to assume that
something from the outside does the shutdown (because down without
crash)
respectively the stop and the restart again.
3. do you have the autorestart option switched on? Then a restart of the
OS would
    restart the kernel
