a few days ago we're getting in troubles with our SAPDB 7.3.0.46 on SLES 8. Every day we have a standstill of our database where no more connections can be established (the only way to connect to the database is via apache module) and only a restart of the db solves this problem.
After checking the diag-files we found out that in this cases the
knldiag contains some entries about "SAVPOINT" (if somebody is interested in the knldiag please contact me, the list doesn't accept the 45kB zip-file).
Unfortunately the knldiag has no error/warning messages which leads us
into one direction for "debugging".
In the docu we found some general information about savepoint, but we wanted to know if somebody can give us more detailed information about savepoints (whats going on there internally, locking some tables, ...).
We have a high traffic on our system (about 400 connections per minute) and perhaps high load combined with such a savepoints leads to our standstill ??????
Is it possible to "finetune" the behaviour of savepoints (schedule, performance issues, ...) ????
thanks in advance
