Forgive me it this is too simple, but try ./SDBINST

By default, I don't think Linux checks the directory your currently in, so
you have to specify it.  Also remember, commands are case sensitive in
Linux.

I unpacked with "tar xvzf maxdb-all-linux-32bit-i386-7_5_0_8.tgz" and try to
run SDBINST. 

Though SDBINST is listed with ls -l as executable file, I cannot run it. 

I get "bash: SDBINST: command not found"

I'm new to linux so it might be some basic problem that has nothing to do
with MaxDB.

Any Ideas?
