Deadlock detection

Hi,
sapdb version: 7.3.0.30
 I have a problem where multiple threads deadlock on a table of my
DB.(these clients block forever)
Is it possible to improve the deadlock detection using db parameters.

P.S.: It becomes impossible to bring the db offline in this case. Is
there a workaround?? right now i'm rebooting the machine.
