I'll preface this: I'm not trying to offend, trying to help :) No application program (userland) should be able to reboot the system (without explicit intention). This sounds like a hardware or operating system problem. RAM and disk controller hardware would be suspect first. OS disk drivers (Linux) next. Or defect / corruption in Linux kernel.
