There is no "best OS" - simply. It heavily depends on what skills you have internally, what's your strategy (Microsoft, Unix, Linux) and what features you need and expect to have from a database system. For 300 Users a single box can do the jobs. We are running Linux/SAPDB (MaxDB) for all our SAP systems (core R/3 has ~ 500 users online concurrently) and are very happy with it. > PD.
