Check the file /etc/opt/sdb.
Look at the lines: SdbOwner=sdb SdbGroup=sdba
Then check your /etc/passwd file to make sure that whatever SdbOwner and SdbGroup are set to makes sense. You may just have a mismatch of information.

After installing the necessary compat libraries, increasing shmmax to 256MB, and creating a user sapdb in group sapdb with a locked account, SDBINST fails with the messages:
SYS: /sap/7500/bin/dbmsrvctl start: cannot switch to sdb owner
I think user:group should be sdb:sdba
