Thanks a lot for your reply. In fact that's the kind of instructions I have been looking for. Unfortunately there is still a problem.
I erased my installation of MaxDB, deleted all the directories and files belonging to it, as far as this wasn't done by RPM -e, and installed anew. After the last rpm -ivh I ran SuSEconfig, then typed (as root): # /etc/init.d/maxdbweb start Starting MaxDB WebServer on port :orion8:/home/alex/MaxDB # 12821 TASKING Thread 8344 starting Seemingly the MaxDB webserver really started, but it appears to think that it's running on port :orion8:/home/alex/MaxDB, which is of course my machine name and my current working directory. Entering http://localhost:9999/webdbm or http://localhost:9999/websql give error messages: "The connection was refused when attempting to contact localhost:9999." Do you have any ideas why the MaxDB web server confuses computer name plus pwd with port number...??? Any ideas, what to check and look for? Many thanks in advance! Alex > Am Samstag, 5.
