Hi,
I'm new to maxdb and use the debian packages
thankfully contributed by Martin Kittel.

I got stuck for some days, because it was unclear to me
that the "maxdb-server" package alone ist not sufficient,
but also the "maxdb-server-7.5.00" package is needed
beside the other stuff like "maxdb-dbmcli" etc.

Without "maxdb-server-7.5.00" I wasn't able to
successfully execute the "insttestdb.dbm" sample script.

I wonder if really both maxdb-server packages are needed (both are
avaialable as version 7.5.00.16)
and if so why the files are distributed in two packages with such irrating
naming?!

Bruno, it's as simple as a short look on the package description:

maxdb-server: Communication server for the MaxDB database system
maxdb-server-7.5.00: A transactional, industrial-strength SQL database system

-> you need both.
