Hello, Thomas!
I've used vi editor to edit the ODBC.ini... putting it both in /etc/ and ~/
and /usr/local/etc ....
It contains the following

[ODBC Data Sources]
MAXDB=MaxDB v. xx

[MAXDB]
Driver=/ict/app/sdb/indep_prog/lib/libsqlod.so
Description=MaxDbODBCDriver
ServerDB=TEST
ServerNode=ottavia
SQLMode=INTERNAL
IsolationLevel=Committed
TraceFileName=/ict/app/sdb/test.log

Is it right? Ottavia is the server name where the TEST database instance is
located.
Is there a way to check the ODBC without using my application? Or a standard
application that tests ODBC connections?

It should be odbc.ini. From the manual:
If you are not using a Driver Manager, you must use an editor to enter the
data for the MaxDB ODBC driver manually, either in the file ~/.odbc.ini or
the file /etc/odbc.ini.
