this definitively does not work for us!
DROP DEFAULT ADD DEFAULT SERIAL(1000) INSERT RECORD CURRVAL=9 (highest value in column=862)
:-(
MaxDB (7.5.00.18 on Linux, Tests via SQLStudio 7.5.00.03)
