Hello,

we are trying to install a sapdb 7.4 instance on windows with the log
volume set to auto overwriting mode. when i understand this rightfully,
this is the DEMO mode.

I found some documentation about this, but some questions are still
open:

1. util_execute SET LOG_MODE=DEMO, won't work in the dbmcli. Its not
recognized as command, and, in the 7.4 documentation its mentioned for
temporarily switching ob DEMO mode. We need it permanently, any no
sighting of any logmode parameters

2. db_addvolume ... probably not what we want, we need to create the log
volume while creating the instance.

3. param_addvolume ... ok, this is what we use in the instance creation
script, BUT - no sighting of any logmode parameters at all.

So, what we exactly need is a way to create a log volume with the
logmode setting demo for ensuring that the log is never running full,
but still having a fair chance for recreating in the case of curruption.
We are using a slightly modified Variant of the dbmcli commandfile from
the sapdb.org website for instance creation. Now we just need to modify
the log volume creation for logmode demo.

But i did not found a usable dbmcli command for achieving this logmode
setting

The other consideration is to configure the automatic log backup to a
number of files at instance creation time.

And, supporting this, we need the end uder to initiate the data volume
backup. Is it possible to initiate this through the jdbc connection?

Any help is appreciated, and thanks for your efforts.

Best Regards,
