- If client and server are on the same machine, don't specify localhost. Leave the hostname empty instead. Then instead of socket communication, MaxDb clients use a more efficient communication via shared memory - the socket port used by MaxDB is 7210. You can find this also in %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\services under sql6.
