Hello Frank, Option -uSQL is definitely not the right type of connection, it opens a sql session that will not be used by the backup commands.
According to the online documentation (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/maxdb/en/1b/00b5d345ba11d4aa1100a0c9430730/fra meset.htm) you should use -uDBS, unfortunately it is not implemented yet :(. The next version of the documentation will therefore document the -uUTL again. So DBMCLI option -uUTL is currently the only option you can use to create a session usable for backup.
