Hello David,

drw-rw---- does not allow anybody to change into that directory. Was
that directory created with those permissions by MaxDB software, or was
is manipulated manually?

Please do a "chmod 770 /var/opt/sdb/data/MAXDB2/data".

Best regards,
Tilo Heinrich

Subject: Problems creating database

I'm trying to create a second database using the DBM GUI. The GUI is
running on Windows, but the database is on Solaris 10. The MaxDB version
is 7.6.

The problem I have is to do with creating the data volume. In the
Device/File box I specify the full path of the file:

/var/opt/sdb/data/MAXDB2/data/DISKD0001

The directory /var/opt/sdb/data/MAXDB2/data exists:

# ls -lR /var/opt/sdb/data/MAXDB2
/var/opt/sdb/data/MAXDB2:
total 4
drw-rw---- 2 sdb sdba 512 Sep 15 10:37 data
drwxr-x--- 2 sdb sdba 512 Sep 15 10:38 log

but the file does not.

I see the following in knldiag.err:
