I tunnel the ports 7210/tcp, 7200/tcp and 7269/tcp via a ssh-tunnel. This works
pretty good and you do not need to open your firewall (unless, of course, the
port 22 for ssh is not open) and all communication is encrypted.

Cheers,
Detlef

Subject: Remote connect question

Dear all,

I would like to use SQL STUDIO and Database Manager GUI to access my database
for administration purposes. I do it in my LAN without problems but I am going
to install the database in a hosting site. The question is what ports must I
open in order to use that programs? I would config iptables to open that ports
for my ip address. Are they secure enough or must I connect using telnet or
something else and the dbm_cli program?

Thanks in advance

Rosa
