Never mind. I used the wrong Complete backup file. The restore worked
perfectly and now am able to startup the database.

Thanks,

Subject: Question on Database Restore

We were on SAP DB release 7.3.3 and have upgraded the database to 7.5
and then 7.6. After each upgrade, I ran a complete backup that was
consistent. Once we were done testing in 7.6. I reloaded the SAP DB
software and issued the following commands:

Dbmcli -uUTL -d SDB -u userid,password
util_execute INIT CONFIG
recover_start completeF
db_warm

the util_execute and recover statement was successful. I issued the
db_warm
command and received an error code 8.

The Complete backup was consistent and didn't need the log files.

Did I do this correctly ?

Thanks,

Glen Case

Subject: MaxDB / SQL Studio on Vista 64bit ?

Hi everyone!
Did anybody ever try to install MaxDB on MS Vista ?

MaxDB installation on Vista RC1 works so far, as I see here
(maxdb-all-win-64bit-x86_64-7_6_00_34.exe
on Vista RC1 64bit , on AMD Athlon 64 3000+),

Also the DBMGUI installation works fine, as far as I can see using
maxdb-dbmgui-setup-7_6_00-130190.exe,

but I have a hard time to install SQL Studio.
(none of
maxdb-sqlstudio-setup-7_6_00-130190.exe,
maxdb-sqlstudio-setup-7_6_00-117293.exe
maxdb-sqlstudio-setup-7_6_00_03.exe
works, they don't register SQLStudioDSQL.dll, as it seems, and the
installation is then terminated; the same applies if I try to install
them as Administrator.
The error message is Error Number 0x80040702, Description: Failed to
load dll: SQLStudioDSQL.dll

After I try to again install SQL Studio, the installer tries always an
update from 7.5.0.0 to 7.6.0.27 versions of SQL Studio, but 7.5. was
never installed before. (!) Cleaning the registry from any reference to
SQL Studio and redo from start doesn't help either.

Any valuable comment appreciated, especially on required 64bit OS and
corresponding installation/version hints for SQL Studio / DBM GUI.

Do I just run the wrong versions of SQL Studio and/or DBM GUI, or is
indeed the immaturity of Vista/64bit the cause of trouble?
Hm... its already the RC1 version of Vista.

Regards
Michael
