Hello,

MaxDB is not dead - development continues lively at SAP. The focus of MaxDB is
the SAP application scenario and so some activity on other feedback might
unfortunately be delayed. With this focus we guarantee to offer an high quality
server fullfilling the enterprise requirements. We had some trouble with the
WebPTS in the past, but these issues should have been solved.

For unknown reasons, MySQL has taken it out of their 'Products' pull down on
their home site, but it's the last item on the page itself. And if you access
www.mysql.com/maxdb this leads directly to your target.

Beside this feel free to look to the SDN (www.sdn.sap.com , registration is
free), where we run a forum on MaxDB and just have started a wiki section
(FAQs). SDN is not bound to SAP customers only, it's a developer exchange
platform for everyone.

Best regards

Similar question bothered me too. More than a year ago I posted a bug (for
MaxDB 7.5) description with a testcase to MaxDB mailing list (I don't know how
I can submit it right into problem tracker). The bug looked pretty severe to me
because it was returning wrong query results. Recently I tested latest version
of 7.6 and the bug was still there. I repeated the post into mailing list, but
still don't have any clue if anyone wants to even look at it. So I was also
doubting if any serious work on MaxDB is still going on. After some initial
buzz of SAPDB going under My SQL umbrella, most major projects were either
abandoned (MySQL proxy) or delayed (Synchronization). Now it takes considerable
effort even to find MaxDB pages on MySQL web site, the newest marketing MaxDB
info it 1.5 years old, no roadmaps, no future plans, no MaxDB advocacy... Yes,
from outside the feeling is that traces of MaxDB live are becoming pretty
subtle. I would be glad to know that this impression is wrong, because MaxDB is
very quality server in my opinion.

Regards.
Alexei

I think the problem is here not, that the development is not progressing (I
can tell you it *IS*) but the issue seems to be more, that the webpts is no
more updated, for whatever reason...

I have seen times when no bugs at all have been displayed or the site was
pretty unresponsive.
