Hi,

the two database paramters _WORKSTACK_SIZE and _MBLOCK_STACK_SIZE 
are important for this kind of problem.

Please check them and increase them if possible.

If this won't help we have to analyze the problem with vtrace on your site 
or you provide the schema information so I could reproduce the problem here.

thanks for your hint: I have increased _WORKSTACK_SIZE from 8192 to 
16384 (i.e. I doubled it) and the problem disappeared.

Is there a chance to estimated the needed parameter value from the 
number of ids used in the IN condition, or do I have to find it by trail 
and error?

Just to motivate why I need a selection command with a high number of 
ids: I present all persons belonging to a certain filter result such as 
'a certification has not been printed yet' to the user and she can 
choose all or an arbitrary subset for the next task. The result of the 
dialog with the user is the long list of ids, which I (have to) use in 
selection command such as the mentioned one.
