Excellent! Yes, the default thumbnail generator (backend converter in Mayan slang) supports PDF thumbnails via Pillow, Python and the ghostscript executable so that's one place to start checking. You can also install GraphicsMagick and switch Mayan to use it instead by adding this to your settings_local.py file:
