I guess the "source" you are using has uncompressing configured. Since the OpenDocument (*.docx, *.pptx, ...) is compressed using ZIP, Mayan uncompresses the document.
You should change the uncompress setting of the source to ether "no" or "ask user" for this purpose (or use a separate source).
