Hi, At the moment is not possible but the idea has been discussed before. The agreed solution was to implement a new metadata system that can attach metadata not only to documents but to other types of objects as well (like the ACLs or transformations). This way a default metadata can be applied to a source which is then copied to any document created from it. This is a complete refactor of the metadata system and something for a major version. 3.0 is already underway so it looks like something for version 4.0 unless a method to make it backwards compatible is found.
