Well, the mayavi web page has not been updated in a long while (and
that is my fault!) which is what makes you think mayavi is dead.  In
reality mayavi2 has been under slow development for quite a while now
(around 2 years).  Here is more information:

Please don't try to install it yet because there was a massive SVN
reorganization a week back and things are still quite unstable.  The
build instructions are also not up-to-date AFAIK.  In a week or two
everything should stabilize.

I will be *very happy* if you are willing to help *in any way* with
the project.  As you can see, the mayavi web pages need work, I could
definitely use a hand with mayavi2 related work.  My time has become
increasingly limited of late.  Please let me know if you'd like to
help with anything.  Most discussion on mayavi2 occurs on the
[EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list.
