Ok, I've searched further. Without "/volumes/Macintosh HD", it doesn't work
either (I get the exact same behaviour). And, when I drop my file from the
Finder to a terminal window, it also contains the "/Volumes/Macintosh HD"
string. However, if I try "open <path to my file without /volumes/macintosh
hd>" in the terminal, it says the file isn't found, so I think "/volumes" in
mandatory (though, RB's shellpath for volume(0) is just "/").

Really puzzling...
The first thing I need to know is whether I should use the UnixPathMBS (with
quotes) or the ShellPath. Both usually work in the Terminal, but for the Auth
object, I'm not sure. Can you tell me that, so I don't always try both for
debugging?
