Christian, do you know if ASIO requires a certain samplerate (like DefaultSampleRate) for OpenStream() to return successfully?
With other audio devices it's easy to throw any samplerate at it and you change the pitch that way. OpenStream(0 always succeeds. But with ASIO devices it seems that you can only throw it certain rates, always DefaultSampleRate but also sometimes related ones like 48000 and 96000, depending. Is that the case as you know of it? Is that just how ASIO works?
