The Xojo Developers UK User Group is pleased to announce a two-day conference 
on Thursday 21st and Friday 2nd November 2013, at the Regus office, Ground 
Floor, One Victoria Square, Birmingham, B1 1BD.

THURSDAY 21ST NOVEMBER - XOJO TRAINING BY CHRISTIAN SCHMITZ

The Thursday will be a Xojo training day, when the excellent Christian Schmitz 
of Monkeybread Software will teach attendees how to create an integrated 
application using a combination of a Console app, a desktop app and a web app. 
Also with example projects for advanced language features, sockets, xml, file 
handling and threads.

FRIDAY 22ND NOVEMBER - XOJO DEVELOPER PRESENTATIONS & NETWORKING

The Friday is packed with developer presentations and networking opportunities. 
During the day there will be presentations from guest speakers from the UK and 
abroad, including:

Eric Gibbon, MacTasks - Welcome, Introductions and Xojo Developer Networking
Eric is a Real Studio / Xojo developer of long standing, specialising in 
cross-platform desktop databases for the publishing and voluntary services 
sector. He has recently begun developing web-based applications for clients 
using Xojo.

Richard Duke, ArtScene - Succeeding in Business Using Xojo
Richard runs a very successful business. ArtScene is now recognised as the 
supplier of the world's leading systems and services for Art and Antique 
dealers, Artists, Collectors, Museums, Restorers and the Insurance Market. 
Learn how to be successful in your software business from a man who knows.

Christian Schmitz, Monkeybread - Monkeybread plugins
Christian is a major player in the Xojo world, creating excellent Xojo plugins 
and actively providing Xojo development, support and training services. His 
Monkeybread plugins are used all over the world, and he organises Xojo events 
in Europe and the UK. Not to be missed.

Tom Catchesides, Light Blue Software - Building Databases for Consumer 
Applications
Tom is a Director of Light Blue Software, an independent UK-based company which 
makes business management software for photographers that's really easy to use. 
Formerly one of the UK's leading wedding photographers, Tom is the technical 
brains behind Light Blue, the company's top-class CRM system, built in Xojo.

Hamish Symington, Light Blue Software
Hamish is a Director of Light Blue Software, a Cambridge-based company which 
develops business management software for photographers using Xojo. Hamish will 
present a half-hour look at how to turn a good application into a great one, 
including looking at how to plan ahead to reduce support queries, how to have 
your application report unexpected quits without bothering the user, with some 
design tricks to really add polish. 

Geoff Perlman, CEO, Xojo Inc.
In the afternoon we will also have a video chat and special demonstration of 
the latest from Xojo with Geoff Perman of Xojo Inc. Get the latest Xojo news 
and your questions answered straight from the man at the top!

CALL FOR 10-MINUTE SPEAKERS ***

During the Friday we will also have time for six 10-minute presentations. The 
rule for the presenter is simple - in your 10-minute slot, you must be able to 
set up with the projector, show something cool you did using Xojo, explain how 
it was done, provide working sample code for the other attendees to be able to 
freely download or take away from the event, and disconnect for the next 
presenter to set up. If you would like to present, please contact Eric Gibbon

FRIDAY LUNCH

Refreshments are available on arrival and at break times, but lunch is not 
provided. However, Victoria Square is in the heart of Birmingham. There are 
many cash points, cafés, bars, sandwich and food shops close by.

SOCIAL EVENING, THURSDAY 21ST NOVEMBER 2013

There will also be a social get-together from 7pm on Thursday 21st November, at 
Jimmy Spices, Broad Street, Birmingham. This is a great opportunity to meet 
other Xojo developers, to socialise and to pick up tips and get your questions 
answered. The socialising will likely go on until very late - not to be missed!
