Try to export LANG=pl_PL environment variable or simply type: LANG=pl_PL mc at the command prompt. (LANG=pl_PL.UTF-8 if you use UTF8ized mc) This actually sets Polish language. You can use any other supported language replacing pl_PL with another if it's supported by mc.
