Hi, Dexter!

Please consider readers of the list as "stateless" across threads. Not
everybody will look up in the archives what version of MC and GNOME you
are running.

> First of all, are there any docs about the Gnome version? Can't find any.

They are in the sources, in the directory "doc-gnome". They should be
installed.

It's better if you describe just one situation when it happens and
describe it in details. It's a general suggestion.

>From the practical point of view, 4.5.55 is probably the last version of
MC with GNOME support. Nobody will fix bugs in gmc unless they are
security-related.

There are two problems here - the MIME editor that gmc is trying to run is
missing and gmc doesn't report the failure.

I guess (well, I know I shouldn't be guessing but I have time to
"interrogate" you) that you are running GNOME 1.4. It has a separate MIME
editor in the control panel, which is not compatible with gmc.
