Clinical Research Center UC School of Optometry 510.643.9252 510-642-9731 [EMAIL PROTECTED] **************************************************************************** ************************************************************************ PARTICIPATE IN A SOFT CONTACT LENS STUDY One-Month Contact Lens Study Starts August 25th, 2005 ONE MONTH SUPPLY OF CONTACT LENSES AND LENS CARE SOLUTIONS WILL BE PROVIDED DURING THE STUDY $40 IN CASH UPON COMPLETION OF THE STUDY The U.C. Berkeley Clinical Research Center is looking for soft contact lens wearers to participate in a contact lens study at the end of August. Participants will be asked to come to our research center for a minimum of "THREE VISITS" lasting less than 1 hour per visit. Each visit is spaced two weeks apart over a span of four weeks. During Visit #1, a brief examination will be performed to verify normal visual acuity and ocular health. If you are qualified for the study, you will be fitted with contact lenses. Vision assessment and contact lens evaluation will be performed to ensure adequate vision, fit, and comfort. You will then evaluate lens performance by filling out a questionnaire. You will be required to wear the study lenses everyday during the study period for a minimum of 6 hours up to a maximum of 16 hours per day, after which time you will remove, clean, disinfect and store the lenses overnight using the recommended cleaning system. You will also be given a daily lens diary to record the lens comfort, vision, and handling. Visit #2 is a 2-week follow-up. You will fill out a questionnaire regarding the performance of Lens Pair 1. Vision assessment, contact lens and ocular health evaluation will be performed. You will be issued a different pair of study lenses and re-evaluated for proper vision, fit and comfort. You will then evaluate lens performance by filling out a questionnaire. You will be required to follow the same wearing schedule and cleaning regimen as with Lens Pair 1. You will also be required to keep a daily record of lens comfort, vision, and handling. ________________________________________________________________________ PARTICIPATE IN A SOFT CONTACT LENS STUDY August 23rd and August 24th, 2005 EARN $80 UPON COMPLETION OF STUDY The U.C. Berkeley Clinical Research Center is looking for soft contact lens wearers to participate in a contact lens study. Participants will be asked to come to our research center for "two visits on the same day" for "two consecutive days". Participants will be asked to wear study contact lenses during the each visit, and doctors will evaluate the fit and comfort of the lenses over a 6 hour period. Participants will be asked to discontinue contact lens wear 24 hours before their appointment and come wearing their prescription glasses. Each visit will be about 45 to 60 minutes long. Doctors will fit participants for study lenses after assessing their ocular health at the First Visit and have them fill out a questionnaire. After 3 hours of lens wear will be asked to fill out questionnaires on their own (to be brought back for their afternoon visit). After another 3 hours, participants will return for their final visit of Day 1, to be reassessed by the Doctors and fill out a questionnaires. Day 2 will repeat the same process. It isn't necessary to be scheduled the exact same time the next day. Subjects will be wearing both study lenses and their habitual spectacles during the study. ________________________________________________________________________ Requirements: *18-39 years old *Currently wear soft contact lenses on a regular basis *Had a recent eye exam *No evidence of eye disease or systemic illness *Must have prescription glasses The U.C.
