You can be a writer for Berkeley's first ever undergraduate public health magazine! For those of you who haven't heard, the Public Health Advocate is in its second year of publication (actually, we've put out only one issue so far!) and is dedicated to spreading the word about public health issues. It is written by undergraduates like yourself for the whole Berkeley campus, and for the community in general. This year, our theme is "Are We Ready?", and some potential topics are: - Emergency preparedness - bird flu pandemic (West Nile), natural disasters (Hurricane Katrina, tsunami, earthquake...) - Bioterrorism - Global warming - Aging population - Chronic illness - Prescription drugs (i.e. Medicare Part D) - Availablity of resources (food shortage, vaccine shortage, treatment for diseases in developing countries...) - And more! If you are interested in writing, here are the steps to take: Get approval for your topic from us before doing any writing Write 2 paragraphs of your article and outline the rest for us to review by October 19th We will notify you by October 26th if you will write for the magazine, and you will then continue to write the article and give us a final draft (750 words) by November 9th Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with your interest and your desired topics for approval soon so you can get started! Take part in the shaping of the hottest new publication on campus! Write on!
