Apply now for the Berkeley iGEM 2006 team. iGEM, the international
genetically engineered machines competition is a contest between over
30 schools around the world to build the most interesting and
innovative biological devices. Past projects have included
biological "film", blinking bacteria, Conway's Game of Life, and of
course, Berkeley's project from 2005: Two-way addressable bacterial
communication (TCP/IP).

Students will work over the summer in a small group at the Berkeley
Synthetic Biology Center with graduate student mentors and professors
in the Synthetic Biology Center. The 2005 team won awards for the
best "part" as well as the most innovative project. We hope to
continue with additional wins this year.

Applicants can be of any year, with a preference for students who
will be sophomores and juniors. Lab experience and MCB 102
experience are preferred. To apply send an email to igem2006-
[EMAIL PROTECTED] with your name, major and year, along with a
CV and a brief statement of why you'd like to join the iGEM team.
Students will be expected to work in the lab 10-20 hours a week on
their projects and the grand finale of the project is a trip in
November to MIT to present the project at the competition.
