Join ARC @ Cal for popcorn and a moving documentary starring Jane Seymour and eight middle school students in Africa and learn more about the Measles Initiative Campaign, a joint effort led by the American Red Cross, the UN, Unicef, and the World Health Organization to eradicate the leading vaccine-preventable childhood killer in the world. The Measles Initiative was launched in 2001 as an effort to control measles death in Africa by vaccinating children 15 years and younger. At the end of 2005, nearly 200 million children had been vaccinated. After 2005, the Measles Initiative plans to continue working in the remaining African countries and expand into Asia and begin its largest ever measles vaccinating campaign.
