To perform serological testing and provide accurate and proficient results. To help develop and carry out new techniques for the various studies ongoing in the lab. To supervise and instruct lab staff and students working in the lab and assist with performing various procedures, contribute to the writing of laboratory reports, protocols, laboratory standard operating procedures, grants and proposals. To supervise and assist with the management of a large biological specimen repository including emergency pager monitoring of low temperature freezers. Participate in maintaining and ordering lab supplies, overseeing lab equipment maintenance including contracts and records of lab equipment. Maintain general lab record keeping. Independent thinking and action is necessary in the conduct of laboratory affairs and also for individual research that may be undertaken related to the general mission of the laboratory. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in biology, or related science. A master's degree in a biomedical science is preferred.
