Dear MCB Students,

As you know, Lauri has left the Undergraduate Affairs Office of MCB!
As we wish her good luck in her new position up at Legal Studies, we
are thinking through some changes that we'll make in the interim
between now and when we hire a new advisor.

********>>>><<<<********
Please read the following, as this affects you.
********>>>><<<<********

1. Declaration of the Major
During the period of October 9 through November 3, we will not be
declaring majors during drop-in office hours, to reduce the amount of
traffic during what is expected to be one of the busiest times of the
year (advisor codes for spring 2007!). Instead, we will hold one
major declaration session per week, with the date and place posted on
the home page of the MCB undergraduate web site. Look there for
dates, times.
ACTION YOU CAN TAKE: If you plan on declaring the major and have
completed Bio 1A, come in now, when there are no lines. Otherwise,
check our on line schedule for the declaration workshops.

2. Advisor Codes for spring 2007
Every declared MCB major will be required to obtain an advisor code
in order to enroll in spring classes. Yes, fall classes have barely
begun, but TeleBears for spring begins on October 23. In order to try
to reduce traffic and lines in our office during this period, we will
be advising any student who comes in between now and October 9 (the
date that advisors codes will be available to us) and marking your
record. As soon as the advisor codes are available, we'll send them
to those of you whose record is marked.
ACTION YOU CAN TAKE: Take the opportunity now to come in and see us
before the lines form.

3. 15 Minute Drop-in Appointments, 10 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 3 pm
We are changing the structure of advising appointments. Beginning
Monday, drop in hours will be 10 am through noon and 1 pm through 3
pm. The length of these drop-in sessions will be a maximum of 15
minutes each. We will hold 30 minute appointments daily 9 am, 9:30
am, 3 pm, 3:30 pm, and M-Th 4 pm and 4:30 pm. Until we develop an on
line scheduling system, please email mcbuao with your preferred days
and times (among those above). We'll email you back within the day.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best,
Anne
