* Beginning 1/28/13, MCB students are able to schedule half hour
appointments with specific advisors by calling the Undergraduate
Advising Office at 510-643-8895. Staff will continue to be available
for drop-in advising Monday - Thursday, 9-12n & 1-4p, and Fridays,
9-12n & 1-3p.

*Auditions for the 2013 Commencement Ceremony Student Speaker - deadline
5/2/13*
In true MCB tradition, a graduating senior is selected by his/her peers
to be the student speaker at annual MCB commencement ceremony.
Interested students are asked to prepare a 5 minute speech (typically
about 2 pages, 14 pt font, 1.5 spacing, half inch margins) to be
presented to a panel of students during RRR week. To be considered for
speaker, submit a copy of the speech to James Depelteau in 3060 VLSB by
4pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. Auditions will be held in 3060 VLSB from
5-630pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2013.
If you are interested in serving on the committee to select the student
speaker, email James Depelteau (jdepelt...@berkeley.edu) by May 1,
2013. The committee will meet on Wed, 5/2, 5-630p in 3060 VLSB to
listen to the speeches and select the speaker.

If you're applying to medical school this summer or next, attend this
informative conference to get crucial tips and the inside scoop from

*Student-to Student Peer Counseling**at Suicide Prevention Week*
Student-to Student Peer Counseling is a group of student counselors that
provide free, one-on-one, confidential mental health counseling for UC
Berkeley students.
We will be presenting a Suicide Awareness Week on campus, April 15-19.
All week long, our table will be on Memorial Glade, where we have a flag
representation for the 1,350 students who commit suicide each year. If
you know someone who has been affected in some way, we welcome you to
join us at the Glade and place a flag in their honor. We will also be
handing out wristbands, bookmarks, and pins so you can raise awareness
throughout campus.
We will also have two events:
Monday 4/15, 6-8pm in 247 Dwinelle:
A showing of “It’s Kind of a Funny Story” starring Keir Gilchrist, Zach
Galinfianakis, Emma Roberts, and Viola Davis followed by a brief
discussion. Refreshments will be provided!
Tuesday 4/16, 6-8pm in 105 Dwinelle:
A Discussion about Suicide: Students’ Stories
SSPC presents a discussion-based workshop for students who are
interested in learning about the facts and warnings signs of suicide,
practicing prevention stategies for themselves and others, and exploring
