*International Service Learning (ISL) at Berkeley*

Pre-health? Interested in volunteering abroad?

Then come out to International Service Learning at Berkeley’s Infosession!
We will be holding two infosessions. They will have the same information,
so if you can’t make one, come out to the other!

Friday, October 4, 2013, 6-7pm | 109 Dwinelle

Tuesday, October 8, 2013, 7:30-8:30pm | 122 Wheeler

International Service Learning (ISL) is a nonprofit organization that
offers health services to underserved populations around the world. We are
currently recruiting students for medical/pharmacy, dental, and optometry
trips.

Before the trip, we will hold workshops to learn about diagnosis and
treatment of common health problems, medical Spanish, and basic techniques
relating to your field. We also plan to fundraise to help subsidize the
cost of the trip and collect donated supplies and medications.

This is a really great experience for anyone interested in the health
field, as you will gain hands-on experience while helping communities that
lack healthcare and resources necessary for their basic well-being. You
will work closely with health professionals and you will interact directly
with patients. We are open to all majors.

*Global Poverty & Practice Minor Information Session!*

Cal Students,
You are invited to attend a Global Poverty & Practice Minor
Information Session!

The GPP Minor introduces students to the theoretical frameworks, methods,
and practical skills necessary to engage with global poverty and inequality
in imaginative and effective ways.

The "Practice Experience" is a central component of the Minor in which
students partner for a minimum of five weeks, with non-governmental or
community organizations, government agencies, or other poverty or
development programs, on various dimensions of poverty action – from
community health and food security to economic justice and grass-roots
political power. This real world experience, which can take place
domestically or internationally, allows students to connect theories and
practices of poverty action. Fellowship funding is available to support
students’ practice experiences.

*The deadline to declare the Minor this semester is Thursday, October
17th. There
are no prerequisites to declare.*

The Declaration Form and additional information about the Minor can be
found at: http://blumcenter.berkeley.edu/gppminor.

Our Information Sessions will provide an overview of the Minor and
demonstrate how students from all disciplines can benefit from it.

Unless otherwise noted, all sessions will be held in Blum Hall
