A shout out for an extremely UNIQUE event hosted by MCBcDNA, an official
MCB-department sponsored club. *Health Care Night on Nov. 6th, 7-9pm in 123
Wheeler *will be an opportunity where professionals/clubs from Optometry,
Clinical Psychology, Medical, Nursing, and Dentistry will all be in the
same room to help point out the differences between their fields.

organization does and how you can get involved. This is a great opportunity

education sector, poverty alleviation, and much more! They are interested
in looking for dedicated volunteers and interns for their organizations.

If you are considering completing your pre-med/pre-health education through
a post-bacc or need to enhance your grades before applying to health
sciences graduate school, this program is for you.

Representatives from a variety of post-bacc programs and SMP programs will
describe their programs, how to identify which program(s) will best help
you attain your health professional school goals, admissions requirements
and give you tips for getting in.

There will be current post bacc students of the programs sharing their
experiences.

Programs attending include: UC Berkeley Extension, UCSF

*Global Health Disparities Research Fellowship*

We are excited to announce that the 2015 Minority Health/Global Health
International Research Fellowship application is now open. The application
deadline is *November 1st 2014.*

The Minority Health/Global Health fellowship is a fully-funded program, an
initiative of the NIH, that seeks to empower under-represented minority
students in the health sciences by providing them opportunities to engage
in short-term *international research* and mentorship aimed at increasing
diversity in the fields of basic science, biomedical, clinical and
behavioral sciences. All majors are welcome!

*UC Davis Medical Center Department of Surgery: Pre-Medical Surgical
Internship, Mentorship, & Research Program*

The UC Davis Pre-Medical Surgical Internship offers a unique set of
opportunities for pre-medical students to work with and be mentored by
surgeons and physicians at the nationally recognized UC Davis Medical
Center located in Sacramento, California. This is not a mere volunteering
position; the program provides an opportunity to interact directly with
physicians in the Department of Surgery. You would be working with them
every step of the way from seeing patients in the pre-operational
consultation to observing procedures performed in the Operating Room, from
rounding in the early hours of the day to spending afternoon in the
clinics. In addition, you will attend bi-monthly workshops involving talks
from medical school professors, hands-on suture and cardiology labs, a
presentation from the Director of Admissions of the UC Davis Medical
School, and more!
