In the Department of Sociology, we have over 200 international students
from several countries who come to study ​at UC Berkeley ​for 1-2
semesters, and the Cultural Peer Mentors are here to assist them with their
transition!


Who Are We?

The Cultural Peer Mentors (CPMs) serve to provide guidance, resources, and
support to international students who are currently studying at UC Berkeley
as part of the Berkeley International Study Program (BISP). We are here to
assist international students to make the successful cultural and academic
transitions at UC Berkeley. One of our goals is to represent American
culture to the newly incoming international students as they adjust to
American cultures. We hope American students and international students
will develop cultural awareness and acquire intercultural competency
through frequent cross- cultural interaction. This is an important skill to
develop as the world of work and social networking becomes increasingly
more diversified internationally.

In this program, you will:



   1.

   Meet friends from diverse backgrounds
   2.

   Plan exciting activities for your own group of mentees!
   3.

   Work with a team of Cultural Peer Mentors to develop your leadership,
   event planning, and intercultural skills.

Requirements:

   -

   Be a current undergraduate student at UC Berkeley with at least one
   academic year of study remaining.
   -

   Strong leadership skills and willing to take the initiative.
   -

   Be empathetic, able to interact effectively and patiently with people
   from diverse cultural backgrounds with different levels of English
   proficiency.
   -

   Possess positive communication and teamwork skills.
   -

   Plan at least 3 activities / semester for a group of ~40 mentees with
   your co-leader
   -

   Assist in planning and execution of 2-3 bigger events per semester for
   the mentees


This is a year-long volunteer position with a budget for event-planning.

Our laboratory is interested in finding a motivated and dedicated UCB
undergraduate or extension students to work with us at the UCSF Mission Bay
CVRI.  The student will earn academic credits and the experience would
involve ~2 days per week and offer exposure to both basic and advanced

*RESEARCH SPECIALIST POSITION AT UCSF*

A position is open in the Immunoprofiler Initiative of Parker Institute at
UCSF! This project is backed by investments from UCSF, AbbVie, Amgen, and
Bristol-Myers Squibb, totaling over $10 million in the aggregate and
supporting the collection and analysis of at least 500 tumor samples from
more than 10 different forms of cancer. We are looking for a candidate with
lab experience in immunology or molecular biology that can commit to a
2-year position.

JOB OVERVIEW
The Staff Research Associate II (SRA II) will perform basic immunology and
molecular biology experiments in vitro and in mice, investigating the
molecular mechanisms of activation of T cells; screen phage display
libraries and isolate and purify antibodies; isolate mouse lymphocytes from
various tissues; prepare RNA and DNA; perform flow cyotmetry and
microscopy; perform PCR, weaning, tail biopsy, and blood processing;
maintain records of mice. The SRA II is expected to work well as part of a
team and have enthusiasm for the practice of science.

• Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry and/or biochemistry or
related field and one or more years of recent, directly related work
experience following degree completion, utilizing the techniques or methods
required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and
experience
• One or more years of experience in either light microscopy, immunology or
molecular biology
• Experience in assay design
