Research positions at UCSF
>
>The newly funded Pacific Vascular Research Laboratory at the University
>of California San Francisco has two paid research positions available
>for life science graduates. The laboratory is focused on the
>identification of the molecular mechanisms responsible for angiogenesis
>in both normal mouse development and disease conditions such as cancer
>and ischemia. Using Cre/loxP and tetracycline-inducible transgenic
>mouse techniques, we have developed animal models in which candidate
>genes can be deleted or expressed in blood vessels. These mouse-genetic
>tools and other cell biological and biochemical approaches are employed
>to elucidate the molecular pathways underlying neovascularization. The
>laboratory is well equipped to perform state-of-the-art research on
>angiogenesis at the molecular, cellular, and organismic levels.
>
>Candidates should have or soon be receiving a B.S. in a life science
>field (cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, etc...),
>although there is one potential position available in bioinformatics
>for which a candidate with a strong background in computer science is
>preferred. These positions are ideal for recent graduates seeking to
>gain research experience and techniques before moving on to Graduate or
>Medical School. The positions demand a commitment to scientific
>research, strong bench skills, and a willingness to work with animals
>(mice and perhaps rats). You will receive training and experience
>working at an at least 70% research with a possible 30% lab support
>appointment, and there is also the potential to publish. Strong English
>writing skills are a plus. Highly motivated and responsible individuals
>with excellent academic credentials are encouraged to apply. Please
>submit your CV and three references to:
