Years of Experience & Expertise Level: (Allow us to recruit for the best possible skill level, i.e. Jr, Mid or Sr.) (SENIOR) Project Description: Systems Engineer for DC 2.0 is a cross IAG/IT initiative in close partnership with OEM, ISV, and external end users to build and manage Enterprise Private cloud integration center. This initiative will enable IAG, IT and SMG objectives including our ecosystems. Some of the key objectives this initiative will enable include: a.. Pre-explore architecture/engineering work for IT to accelerate adoption of virtualization and cloud in IT b.. For IAG demonstrate virtualization/Cloud usage models showcasing CIO value proposition and highlight IA leadership and also be source of innovation for future platform features in the area of infrastructure management and emerging network and storage architecture, and c.. For SMG - provide key collateral/training to accelerate adoption of virtualization/cloud architecture externally using IA based solution. Daily Responsibilities: Perform data center engineering/operations ranging from end-end design, setup and management including base builds to VM creation, performance monitoring, and issue troubleshooting. Works with DC 2.0/iCloud Architects and Engineers to instantiate and ensure functionality of various features of DC 2.0/iCloud. Works with PoC (Proof of Concept) owners within the DC 2.0 framework to instantiate both physical and virtual landscapes in support of PoC goals. Added role includes Work with Application/key technology owners to Design and execute benchmark testing, capture, analyze and present performance characteristics. Assists in performing root-cause analysis of system and software issues including but not limited to network, hyper visor, storage and compute systems. Acts as sounding board in architectural meetings and validates conceptual implementation and PoC details as feasible within the limitations of current software/hardware offerings. Documentation and write white papers for external and internal consumption. Necessary Skills (Must Have): Must have thorough knowledge and background in server operations (Windows Server 2003-2008), mid-level familiarity with virtualization in VMWare (ESX 3.5-4.0) and Microsoft (Hyper-V) offerings, and general operational knowledge of Ethernet networking (TCP/IP), Linux operating systems, and shared storage systems (NetApp/EMC).
