Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for all software testing activities for a
selected Elsevier Heath Sciences business unit. The Business Unit is served
primarily from our Philadelphia, PA offices. This position is a hands-on
role where the candidate provides leadership, partnering with development
teams to release quality software.
Main Activities and Responsibilities:
Testing Automation:
Recent experience as a hands on lead QA Analyst for an agile project team
(must have done testing automation within the past few months)
Process Improvement:
Responsible for improving test processes: automation, load/performance,
functional testing by making testing more efficient. Proactively provide
suggestions for improvement in a diplomatic manner.
Leadership/Mentoring:
Responsible for providing leadership for a team of both on and offshore
test analysts. Partner with development and business teams to develop and
maintain high standards for testing products.
Communication Tools:
Responsible for developing dashboards and other methods of communication
regarding QA/Test Status. Address and remedy issue escalations related to
personnel, technology, performance and other topics from business and
development partners.
Execution of Deliverables:
Responsible for all QA deliverables for projects associated with the
business unit. Responsible for test script creation and execution along
with defect tracking.
Vendor Management:
Responsible for the performance of a vendor QA team. Oversee and work with
vendors to ensure quality of products delivered.

Qualifications
Technical and Functional Competencies:
•             5-10+ years of experience in the software quality discipline
with commercial, customer facing software products
•             Candidate *MUST* have proven QA leadership abilities on agile
projects
•             Solid hands-on agile software testing experience
•             5+ years of hands on test automation experience
•             2+ years solid load/performance test leadership
•             4+ years of solid experience leading distributed teams
•             Industry certifications (CSQA, ISTQB, CSTB, Six Sigma, etc.)
a plus. Practical experience is a must.
•             Experience with and knowledge of Health Care systems a plus.
•             Experience with working with offshore vendors required
•             Experience and involvement with staff selection, development
and HR responsibilities - required
•             Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•             Experienced and comfortable with interacting with senior
level executives
•             Proven leadership skills - Candidate must have demonstrated
quantifiable improvements to software testing practices
•             Demonstrated organizational influence skills –
•             Detail oriented with hands on abilities when needed
•             Ability to prioritize independently.
•             Understanding of software quality management principles
(tracking, analysis, reporting, problem resolution, training)
•             Understanding of software development and maintenance
processes and methods
•             Understanding of project management principles and techniques
as they relate to software project planning, implementation, and others.
Specific Technology Experiences:
JAVA, hosted, ‘big data’, Oracle, Selenium, Ruby/Watir, mobile device
testing (iOS, Android, Blackberry, etc. ), QC, Rally, QTP, LoadRunner,
JMeter, UNIX, Fiddler, SOAP UI, REST/SOAP testing, API testing, mongodb,
VDI, Cloud technology.
