MCN'ers, For those of you interested in the use of standards, I encourage you to attend the MCN 2006 Standards SIG annual meeting Friday Nov. 10 from 4:30-5:30 pm. We'll meet at the conference registration desk at 4:30 and move to the meeting location from there. The location will be posted at the registration desk for latecomers.
The Standards SIG is a forum for sharing interests in and having discussions about the use of standards in the cultural heritage field. It is a fun group and anyone is welcome to join and contribute to the SIG through listserve postings, attending annual meetings, suggesting ideas for sponsored conference proposals, looking at new developments in the field, etc. There have been some interesting developments in the field over the past year (CCO, CDWALite, and others) and I hope at this year's meeting we'll have a lively discussion of those and other topics. The Standards SIG annual meeting will consist of greeting current and new members, SIG business, a discussion of this year's developments and other topics of interest, and a brain storming session on proposals for next year's conference. We've been a quiet group for a while now, so let's make our voices (and interests) heard! Please join us.
