Yes, there was a waiting list for quite a while as Google added capacity
to the system, but usually you can just sign right up now.

I've been using this for a number of clients and very successfully. In
our case it's very easy to integrate because we have a plugin for the
content management system we're using that just automatically integrates
the Analytics code.
