The New York Botanical Garden is accepting applications for Technical Support Manager within the Information Technology Department. Will implement, manage, and continually improve the information technology user support processes for the Garden. Provide prompt, effective, and courteous first-level technical support to users across all supported platforms, networks, software, and devices. Manage the Help Desk ticketing system and provide technical oversight to support the technicians and interns engaged in user support. Create and maintain an inventory of user hardware, software licensing, and other technology. Interpret and apply end-user IT policies and resolve routine issues at the user level. Assist in planning and executing major IT initiatives. Minimum of a 2-year technical degree; 4-year bachelor?s degree preferred. Help Desk certification or ability to become certified within 2 years required. At least 3 years? experience in desktop user support in a similar environment; plus 2 years? experience as technical support manager preferred. Must have highly developed customer service skills and attitude; superior communication skills; a personable support manner; patience; resourcefulness; reliability; and a commitment to excellence. Demonstrated knowledge of PCs, laptops, peripherals, and handheld devices; standard Windows (some Macintosh) environment and Microsoft productivity suite; TCP/IP networking; basic knowledge of digital telephony, MACs, and user support. Desire and ability to learn about and incorporate emerging technology. Ability to lift and transport computer equipment up to 50 lbs; ability to work in close quarters (such as underneath desks) to install cabling or equipment.
