Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce a new CCO website.
http://www.vraweb.org/ccoweb/cco/index.html

The first thing you will notice is that the "CCO February 2005 draft"
is no longer posted. The Feb 2005 pdfs are out of date and superceded by
the CCO print publication, now available from ALA.

The CCO website will soon include selections from the print edition in
the "CCO selections" area of the new website. The text is being
marked-up now and will be posted within the next two months.

Another new area of content that will be available sometime over the
next two months is the "Cataloging Examples" section, categorized by
work type (e.g, Architecture, Photographs/Film, Decorative Arts and
Utilitarian Objects, etc.). These examples are full CCO cataloging
records for your "enjoyment." They are available on the web site as an
enhancement to the print publication. Once we get the initial set of
examples posted we hope to add examples from the community.

The "News and Events" section lists CCO training opportunities in the
near future. As we move forward with the new VRA CCO committee we will
be adding more content. We'll post announcements on the listservs when
important new content -- such as the "CCO selections" and the
"Cataloging Examples" -- is added.

We'd like to thank Diane Zorich (CCO Project Manager), Murtha Baca,
Linda McRae, and Patricia Harpring (the other CCO editors), and Kalika
Yap of Citrus Studios, who designed the attractive site.

Regards,

Elisa Lanzi and Ann Whiteside, VRA Cataloging Cultural Objects
