The museum and heritage sector has traditionally used quantitative
measures to describe past trends as opposed to establishing performance
indicators to track and explore current and emerging qualitative and
quantitative measures that can also be used to predict and articulate
goals, successes, and future shifts in practice. The University of
Victoria offers a Performance Measures course that explores a number of
these important performance issues and looks to current performance
indicator tools from the business and not-for-profit sector. For more
