The museum and heritage sector has traditionally used quantitative measures to describe past trends as opposed to establishing performance indicators to track and explore current and emerging qualitative and quantitative measures that can also be used to predict and articulate goals, successes, and future shifts in practice. The University of Victoria offers a Performance Measures course that explores a number of these important performance issues and looks to current performance indicator tools from the business and not-for-profit sector.
