I am posting this to various lists on behalf of my student as per below. Please feel free to forward this to any interested parties or appropriate listservs. Thank you!
~Julie Strange ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Hello, I am hoping that you will be willing to take a brief, 10-15 minute survey on social media use in archives and special collections. I am a graduate student specializing in Archives and Records Management in the MLS program at the University of Maryland, College Park. I am spending the summer researching social media, and how archives and special collections can best utilize these platforms. As part of my research, I would like to know what types of archives and special collections are currently using social media in their repository, as well as how and why they are using these programs. The survey also has a short section for those who don't use social media, so *please do not disregard this email because your repository does not use these platforms*. The survey is anonymous, but there is an opportunity to provide contact details if you would like information about the final results or are willing to be contacted for further information.** The information you provide will help me understand the role of social media in our profession, and help me to compose a list of suggestions and best practices for implementing social media in archives and special collections. I intend to share the results, as well as any other materials I produce. Please check my blog, http://rchopman.wordpress.com/, for updates. *This survey will be open until Tuesday, July 31st at midnight.* By clicking the following link you consent to have any information you provide used in this study. If you have any comments or questions, please contact me at rchopman at gmail.com. Sincerely, Rebecca Hopman
