Hi everybody,

I thought you'd like to hear what's on Ken Hamma's mind as he leaves the Getty
and looks back on a 21-year career. I had an interesting conversation with Ken
last week, and recorded the call as a podcast so you can all listen in. The
links are in the announcement below.

Enjoy!

Subject: New PARcast Available: The Cost of Owning Technology--A Tribute to Ken
Hamma

Dear Colleagues,

A new podcast, The Cost of Owning Technology
<http://www5.oclc.org/downloads/programsandresearch/parcasts/20080701GXW-Hamma.mp3>
(.mp3: 9.17MB/20min.), is available online on the OCLC Programs and Research
PARcast <http://www.oclc.org/programsandresearch/parcasts/default.htm> page.
In this interview, RLG Program Officer G?nter Waibel interviews Ken Hamma,
Executive Director for Digital Policy and Initiatives at the J. Paul Getty
Trust, about how owning technology requires significant ongoing investment, but
various options exist that can bring down costs and lead to a more
collaborative future. We are releasing this podcast as a tribute to Ken's
21-year career, as today is his last day with the Getty.

This is the sixth podcast in our continuing series of interviews in which we
ask the question, "What's keeping you awake at night?" of people we come across
in our travels who are thinking ahead, worrying about the next big issue or
imagining the next big thing. More interviews will be recorded and added to
our PARcast page in the near future.

Best regards,

Melissa
