Dear MCN Members and Friends,

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Museum Computer Network, I am
pleased to announce that our new three year strategic plan is now
available on our MCN website, www.mcn.edu.

Click the link on the homepage to get to either the full plan, or the
Executive Summary.

Back in November at the conference in Pasadena, we introduced the draft
of the plan and invited you all to critique it. We held a meeting at
the conference for feedback, and we had an online feedback mechanism.
We have taken everyone's comments into consideration, and have made
improvements based on your suggestions.

For example, you wanted greater transparency in the governance of MCN.

Having the new strategic plan on the website is the first step. Soon we
will be posting job descriptions for Board level positions currently in
existence, and we will post descriptions for volunteer positions we
would like to fill. Later this year, we will begin posting Board Meeting
summaries, so you may become acquainted with the inner workings of those
meetings.

We heard your feedback about conference fees and scholarships, too.

The plan includes examining conference fees this year and determining if
they can be lowered without compromising MCN's long-term fiscal
stability. If we can lower the fees, we will. And we will investigate
expanding the scholarship program.

Please take a few moments to go through the plan; I think you'll like
what you see.
